BODY PRISON: JESUS WEPT FEATURING DANE EVANS SINGLE REVIEW
We are going to start off this one by congratulating Body Prison on being the latest band to with Greyscale Records; it is well deserved and we at Deathling Productions are so happy for you all. Body Prison is a Deathcore band from Naarm/Melbourne, debuting in 2022 with their single Dogma. Body Prison has released their latest single Jesus Wept featuring Dane Evans of To The Grave, appearing on the forthcoming EP A Waste Of Good Suffering (to be unleashed on November 20th.) Weeping wounds squelch and ooze with puss, Decrepit bones barely keeping that emaciated body standing up, There's nothing crawling inside of this empty husk, And what a pungent stench it carries. If you are seeking a

song to blow your ears right off of your head, you have found it. I am going to be entirely transparent and say I wish I had recorded my reaction to this track to find the count of "Wow! Wow! Wow!" and to see the expressions on my face, which I am sure were hilarious. Jesus Wept is an absolute whirlwind, which I needed to listen to four times to properly understand everything that was happening. Historically Body Prison has had a layer of groove under the pulverising instrumentals and Jesus Wept is no exception. The song begins with disjointed guitars that will immediately have you on alert, before transforming into a low and slow grind of guitars and drums. The track frequently changes tempo leaving you guessing where it will go next and I can see it being a hit with the fans in the pit in a live setting (achieving their goal of writing the music for the live performance experience). The guitars take on a Whitechapel-esk tone towards the middle of the track, pulling the groove aspects to the forefront, before switching up again to a row rhythm. With double kicks moving so fast they sound like a machine gun you are dragged by your face into the conclusion of the track. Despair and weep, It speaks as if Almighty, Words of Absolution, But it speaks zealous heresy.

Vocally, Jesus Wept is absolute insanity and carnage, with one second hitting the standard gutteral style vocals, moving to rapid fire lyrics and ridiculously heavy tunnels the next. Daniel and Dane's voices compliment each other in (and this is going to sound nonsensical) the prettiest ways with Daniel's crushing lows and impressive highs bouncing off of Dane's more open sound and tone. When I heard that Dane was going to be appearing with Body Prison, Jesus was not the only one weeping, as the amount of Australian talent in this one song is absurd. I recommend you watch the music video, while it displays grotesque imagery, it is visually striking and has some behind the scenes footage at the end which will give you a taste of the shenanigans that you should expect from the band. My name in your mouth, Rent free in their heads, Paint the ceilings, Blow your own brains out, If you want me dead.
