Monkie Mind is a Melodic Punk band formed in 2018 from Newcastle, England. Monkie Mind debuted onto the airwaves in 2021 with their single Monkey Mind, following it up with the Album Monkey Mind (2021) as well as several singles, including the brand new drop and first track featuring new Bassist David Randle, Ignite. "Monkie Mind operate on a strong DIY ethos, building a devoted fan base across the UK through constant gigging and strong songwriting." Hands reach out and a heart’s ignited, You’re trying hard to find your own way out, You can’t see the world and her beauty, Blinded by the light, It ain’t easy Every heartache

fuels the fire. There is something poetic about listening to a clean and stripped down Punk song, without any unnecessary dramatics or over production. Ignite is unapologetically honest, with a melodic introduction that builds in vigor as the song progresses. The track is catchy, dance-able and easy to lose yourself in. I found myself listening to the song many more times than I needed to because the energy is so infectious, pulling me back to my teenage years of listening to Green Day, Rise Against and AFI. Upbeat guitar riffs, infectious and bouncy drums and chunky bass is accompanied by a short section of orchestral underlay, which cinches in the track and adds an unexpected, but welcome flavour to the song. If you really want it, believe in yourself, You’re the only one, you can have it all, Give self-love Where’s it all gone?

"The goal has always been to make music with widespread appeal and songs that are super catchy without losing that raw, energetic punk edge," says frontman Lee Wright. "Ignite encapsulates everything we love about melodic punk—big sing along choruses, tight rhythms, and pure energy."

Every loss just taught you how to win, They don’t know who you are, Or  the path or where you’ve been, You fell down, but now you’re standing strong, And tall,  You’ve overcome, Now kick down every wall.

Vocalist/Guitarist Lee has a beautiful grit to his voice with a standout Newcastle accent that will make him easily identifiable on a playlist. His sound is clear, punchy and holds an interesting timbre as he hits his lows throughout Ignite. The layering of vocals for the chorus feels like an encouragement to sing-a-long with a crowd, taking the song up a notch. Ignite encourages you to "believe in yourself" despite what the people around you say and how they make you feel. It is a call to make your dreams happen regardless, to trust in your abilities and to not give up, even if you have to stand alone. One by one, they all fall down, Believe in yourself, Where is all the love? Where did we go wrong?
