Sydney pop-punk/post-hardcore infusion band Forever at Midnight released their latest single 'Poison Dreams' on December 1st, marking this their fifth title added to their discography. Buckle up if you like to

dance to breakup songs because Poison Dreams is a bop of the highest order, giving the energy of Tonight Alive meets Lacuna Coil, you know you are in for a treat. You're telling me that it's all for the best, You left this gaping hole inside my chest, I guess it wasn't worth knowing who you're dreaming of, But you've poisoned and infected my mind. Normally I would talk about the overall song and then jump into the musicality of the track, but this time I am going to start with the vocals. Not only is Sid delivering a beautiful vocal performance including a combination of rock style lows and ethereal and angelic highs, Dan layers in his vocals as well. The duo's vocals match perfectly in style giving me the energy of, forgive me, the

Disney's Zombies leads, Addison and Zed. I promise I mean this as the highest form of a compliment, those movies have incredible vocals and blend seamlessly like Sid and Dan's. Forget the fantasy, That life's not meant for me, But you trapped me in so well, I'm falling in this hype. Musically Poison Dreams begins with high energy and chaotic guitars and drums, forcing home the idea of the breakup having just happened and all of the heightened emotions that comes along with, before shifting to a "fog state" or reminiscence of the good times, and continuing to shift back and forth throughout the

track. At the end of the track you feel like there is a disconnect and space for the subject of the story to move on and past the disastrous relationship. You're still in my brain, causing through my veins, Tattoo my heart, Tearing me apart, You haunt my every step, It's like you never left, Linger on my skin, Haunt me in my dreams. Throughout the track the guitars and drums pull you through the story with an effortless energy, which tells you how well thought out they actually are, taking turns and working in tandem to fill the spaces.

Josh has a moment to shine with a guitar solo that drives home the loss of control and discontent. Finally, we have Evan on the drums, whose fills, passion and ability shines through without overshadowing. His drum style is reminiscent of Nick Folio of Bad Omens, hitting with the same intensity and clean style that immediately threw me into the same space as his work. How can I, How can I, Escape your time, Escape your time, Crashing in, Taking over my life, Infiltrate my thoughts, This is got to stop, Well this has got to stop.
