If you like garage metal and grungy punk rock music, this is the band for you. HISS formed in 2022 as a group of five friends out of Brisbane,

Queensland. HISS have one album to their name "Enöz Lätem" released in March this year, featuring "Trace" as the third track. Known for their diverse sound, through influences of the individual bands members, they "will no doubt guarantee crossover appeal throughout the rock and metal community, the infectious cocktail of heavy and hard-hitting riffs, grooves to make you move, a strong sense of melody, and challenging lyrics, will have the listener pondering their own past and present experiences, and asking themselves, "ARE YOU FUCKING SATISFIED?"

"For fuck sake‘s I’ve made some mistakes, Too little and too fucking late, The horse has bolted, it’s out the gate, I can change, it’s not too late". Immediately upon listening to 'Trace' I was thrown into a Midnight Oil gets heavier atmosphere; with similar (without feeling like it is copying) vocal tones and inflections meets almost a goth wave undertone. HISS isn't the kind of music I naturally gravitate towards but it definitely gave me a nostalgia hit for a kid who grew up in the 90's with slightly alternative parents who spent their weekends at the pub or

at a house party with rock music blasting in the background. 'Trace' is gritty and grimmy and marks itself as a track for anyone who is entirely done with a partner's shit and is moving on. There are many points throughout this track that I can already see will have excellent fan interaction, shouting the lyrics at the stage. "Who’s there to catch you fall? I picked you up when I took you back, I gave you this and I gave you that, You want it, you got it and all that crap, Why the fuck do I feel like I’m having a heart attack?". Instrumentally, HISS pulls you through the story where in the beginning the overall feeling is heavier and chaotic, somewhat uncontrolled, before you feel the point of acceptance and realisation that letting go will be the only option and the music turns lighter and with a groove-ability to it that is infectious. "It's all fake, it's done, finished". Musically I feel you could listen to this story with lyrics and it would still achieve the same results, which is honestly fantastic, it shows HISS's story telling ability in a complete form. "My call your call, the writing's on the wall, I got it, I see it, it’s on your face, Time for me to get the fuck out, Out of this place."

HISS will be performing with The Midnight Devils on Friday November 28 at the Lou Lou room. You can buy your tickets at the link below:
