Meanjin/Brisbane symphonic metal band Necrostasis have released their latest single 'Soulbound'. Necrostasis hit the scene in 2023 with their debut EP 'Resurrection', followed by the 'Instrumental Version' in 2024,

followed by their single 'Redemption'. Necrostasis have a level of costume dedication I haven't personally seen in Australia, so if you are able, you need to check them out; it is honestly impressive. Necrostasis will be performing at HostileFest on February the 21st and ShredFest on May 2nd, ticket links are available below. In shadows cast by moonlit skies, I hear your voice, your haunted cries. Your whispers echo in the night, Our love defies this earthly tie. Soul Keeper, prophet of death. Walk with ghosts through unyielding fires. Haunted winds carry the heart. Vessel of truth, bound by two. Shadows reign, Ancient arcane, Transcend this plane. "Drawing on the ancient Egyptian myth of Isis and Osiris, Soulbound tells an emotional story of two lovers separated by death yet inseparably connected beyond the spiritual veil." Soulbound begins with the sound of a beating heart pulling you immediately into the lovers aspect of the track, Ecrothi begins to speak as if from the grave, before the ethereal voice of Rosanna joins the mix. Violin and guitar work in tandem to give the illusion of a dream state, remembering the time the lovers shared. The track ends with the same heart beat completing the song full circle.
Rosanna Diamond, vocalist says "Soulbound is our most emotionally charged, musically dense and narratively ambitious single to date. We wanted to create a song that felt really powerful and mythical. We think this is a truly epic and emotional piece which pays homage to Egyptian Mythology".
Your spirit lingers, I hear the call. With every breath I feel your touch. My dreams tell me of our love. I still hear your whispers. In dreams we dance, like gods above. Purest of hearts now aligned. Your whispers echo

in my mind. Our love defies all that binds. Soulbound is a 5 minute and 40 second piece of listenable art, with attention to details, creating an atmosphere of magic, romance, intrigue and timeless connection withstanding death itself. No part of this track feels like it was added without complete intention, making for an engrossing listening experience. My favourite part of the track is the addition of the Mizmar (or another similar sounding wind instrument) which hurtles you immediately into the concept of being in Egypt.
Ecrothi Morgath, scream vocalist and symphonic composer recalls on writing the track that “It was a very complex piece to write which took years to complete from its initial conception. It really all came together when we were recording the final parts of the track in the studio with the band, where all the vocal harmonies, violin parts, guitar solos and drum rhythms were fleshed out and the track just sounded so full. I’m really pleased with how this track sounds and how we all contributed to it.”

Soul keeper, Cut my soul, thirteen, Soul keeper Buried in time, sands they hide Soul keeper, Reborn through your mind. The combination of breath restricted wailing and death metal screaming from Ecrothi paired with the operatic style of Rosanna blend in a way that is hauntingly beautiful, while giving you the peak of masculine and feminine energy. This paired with fast passed guitars and drums which slip effortlessly into an entrancing rhythm and back again will hold you tight in the grip of Osiris and Isis. Soulbound is wonderfully theatrical, romantical, dramatic and thought out. I personally cannot wait to see Necrostasis perform in an environment purely of their own design if this is the level of thought and care they put into story and world creation. In shadows cast by moonlit skies, I hear your voice, your haunted cries. Your whispers echo in the night, Our love defies this earthly tie. In dreams we dance, like gods above. Soulbound Our love defies all that binds. Soulbound.
