TWENTY ALBUMS TURNING TWENTY IN 2026

2006 was an important year in the grand scheme of the alternate music space, producing some of the most influential albums of its day, pushing

the scene to places it had previously never been before. During the midst of the Screamo epidemic, with raccoon tails, razor blade hair cuts, the creation of the vans vs chucks debate and the rivalry between newcomer

bands and the "traditional" metal bands and fans, parents everywhere were clutching their pearls and crosses at the screaming music emitting from their teenage children's bedrooms. As an elder emo I was thrust into the scene with the likes of Linkin Park and The Prodigy through Rage on a Saturday and Sunday morning before quickly jumping up into the heavier acts such as BMTH, Parkway Drive, Cradle of Filth and The Ailment (if you know this one, we definitely just became best friends.) Bring Me The Horizon and my complete obsession to this day with Pray For Plagues has inspired this article, so in honour of that I will begin with the Album that started it all.

  1. Bring Me The Horizon ~ Count Your Blessings

Count Your Blessings was released in December 2006, marking the beginning of BMTH's rapid growth to super stardom and becoming the path maker for a generation with their first Full Length Album following their EP debut of 'This is what the edge of your seat was made for'. With iconic tracks such as Pray For Plagues, For Stevie Wonder's Eyes Only (Braille), Off The Heezay and Tell Slater Not To Wash His Dick, the Album is full of banger after banger.

During the writing of this article, BMTH released the news that they will be unleashing a re-recorded version of Count Your Blessing in celebration of the 20th Anniversary on the 10th of July, so definitely keep watch for that one.
