WHISPERHEAD: WAR THAT I'M WAGING SINGLE REVIEW
Whisperhead has released their latest Single 'War That I'm Waging', the first release with new Drummer Sabastian Cowan. Whisperhead is a Nu-Metalcore band from Dubbo, formed in 2011 and debuting with their Single 'Swallow You' in 2021. I think that I’m reaching the end of the rope, and I feel like I’m gonna choke, Burns on my hands from holding you afloat, and it’s time that I let you go, I’m sick of feeling like I am half

buried. War That I'm Waging is a two year and two drummer undertaking, with themes of getting your justice against those who have wronged and used you, pointing out people's bullshit behaviour and internal exploration into the deepest recesses of your soul, personal development and growth. War That I'm Waging has been tearing up the live scene and now it is here for all of us who are unfortunate enough to miss Whisperhead live. Rounding up everyone who has made my life hell, Lining them up against the wall for their sins, I'm building piles of all the detritus, and setting fire to every reminder.
“Holding my son for the first time, a profound realisation washed over me. I cannot simply wish for him to become a man of substance; I have to show him what that looks like. It ignited a fierce commitment to actively forge a better version of myself. If I want him to navigate the world with strength, integrity and character, I must first relentlessly pursue my own. This means doing the quiet, heavy work of healing my wounds, growing my resilience and striving to become everything I want him to see in himself” Nolan explains.
All of the lies, all of the fails, all of the hurt, all the betrayals, I can’t be burdened by that anymore so I’m taking it all and I’m leaving it’s fate to the fire. War That I'm Waging marks a new chapter for Whisperhead, with a fresh new sound and no holds barred attitude. You are introduced to the track with aggressive guitars, fierce drums and vocalist Nolan unleashing his might voice into a powerful scream. With a whirring siren you are pulled further into the track as unrelenting drums drag you by your face

across the concrete, and Troy and Darcy pummel you within an inch of your life with chaotic and rhythmic guitars, matching the energy of the lyrics perfectly. I have had many conversations with Nolan about his vocal journey and ways he is working to improve his sounds, and War That I'm Waging has pulled his progress into sharp relief. Nolan's tone and cadence has become clearer, his rapid vocals improved in skill and use of intentional breath and vocal range cinched in to create a fuller and more rounded sound. The band has locked in to create a single that is truly impressive in both musical skill and story telling ability.
Nolan says, “We also had a crazy shift mid-recording when we changed drummers. We gave Sab total freedom to rewrite the drum tracks, but he loved Dylan’s parts so much he kept them in saying 'No, these are untouchable.'
I would be lying if I said I wasn't devastated at the news of former Drummer Dylan leaving, however, the combination of Dylan and Sabastian's writing styles and Sabastian's incredible musical talent has elevated War That I'm Waging into the stratosphere. At no point while listening to this tracks did I think that there was something that could be tightened or improve. I am genuinely excited for this new era of Whisperhead. There has got to be a new man, Cutting out the dead wood to take back my life, Make a declaration of war, On the mental sickness that pervades my mind.
Whisperhead will be performing throughout October and November, with tickets available at the links, The Cage HERE, HollowFest 26 HERE, Hollow-een HERE and Northern Horizon Fest HERE.
