Leeds Groove Death Metal band Godeth have unleashed their latest single,'Vestige'. Godeth hit the scene in 2018, releasing their debut single 'Scald' in 2023, followed by several singles and the EP 'The Path of Destruction' (2024). As a teenager/young adult of Lamb of God and Gojira, I knew this was going to be a fun one and I wasn't wrong. If you

like crushing guitars, rolling drums, frantic screaming and shaking your arse, 'Vestige' is definitely the track for you. So let's get into it. A beautiful landscape, A vestige, a gift from heaven, Smoke stacks, scars of concentration, The industry provides you all you fucking need, This plane is infinite, No start, no finish where, Flooded with death camps, Gangrene bone marrow. The groove rhythm hits from the very beginning, with an enticing beat that will pull you in and have your body moving before rapidly switching to something frenzied and chaotic. The consistent tempo change of the track takes you on a journey through heightened energy, before slowing down to a place of anxious quiet, before pulling you back up again.

"We are excited for Vestige to be finally released January 29th. The song has been a popular staple of our live set for the last 6 months and we can't wait for our fans to be able to hear our recorded version of it. The song is aggressive, groovy, and heavy, encapsulating everything we stand for as a band. We once again teamed up with the amazing Adam Gadsby who produced the song and saw our vision for what we wanted the song to be, and together we created our best sounding song to date. Vestige illustrates the inescapable rapid descent into misinformation politics and populism that the world is seemingly crashing into. Using satire and sarcasm to numb the pain, Vestige furiously lambasts the current state of affairs and declares a resounding 'hell no' to being dragged into the chaos and murder that sadly is commonplace in 2026. We can't wait for its release!"

Miles has an interesting vocal tone. While it has the more common sounds of death metal, there are undertones of almost "caveman," for want of a better word, hardcore aspects to it that bring a unique vocal style. The breathy timbre of Miles voice brings in a feeling of restriction

and sense of loss of control that makes the vocals hit on a deeper, more dynamic level. There is also a tongue roll technique that Miles employs at strategic points throughout the track, that add another layer to the overall listening experience. I dilute my soul with the terror, I hurt myself, I touch the leather, The pendulum swings into the sulphur, I fuck the corpse into the mud. At the 2.53 minute point during the buildup to a breakdown, there is a single bell hit in the silence and the first time I heard Vestige it made me laugh. I couldn't tell you why but I just thought it was an interesting note that I had written down for the track. Instrumentally, have fun keeping up with

everything that is going on during your first round listen. The drums performed by Danny are top-tier, forever switching and intentionally chaotic; filling spaces expertly while maintaining the growth of the energy. The string section by no means is left wanting, with guitarists Luke and Dylan and former bassist Jimmy dragging you to the songs conclusion by your ear, as they chug, whammy and strum you to a point of near death. Only worth the meat you can provide, You are nothing but a speck in time, This ether's foul and fetid and full of fucking worms, You will rot, as I will rot, you are the fucking meat... Meat, Meat, Meat, Meat, Meat, Meat, Meat, We are the fucking meat.
