THOSE LEFT BEHIND: WITH DEATH SINGLE REVIEW

Kaurna/Adelaide Metalcore band Those Left Behind have unleashed their first single since November 2024, 'With Death'. Those Left Behind hit the scene in 2020 with 'Self Titled', followed by several singles, the latest being 'Negative' and 'Ouroboros'. failing, Not this time, I’m unstoppable, I am immortal. I am going to start with the vocals of 'With Death'. Timmie hits like the most interesting blend of Michael Crafter and Winston McCall style vocals, while holding all of his own natural timbre and cadence. With most of the track held in his middle register you know the song is going to keep you in the weight of the subject matter. His powerful voice makes its way through the song with ease, running headfirst into the breakdown, while taking the time for smatterings of high Mitch Lucker-esk belts. As a teen in the 2000s the sound is nostalgic, yet fresh. with the sound of a heart monitor before turning to full blown chaos as the song progresses. The guitar holds you in place as the rhythm gently scales up and down before taking to the mayhem of the uncertainty of death. The drums move through the track like a heart beat speeding up and slowing down again through more intensive periods of the song, forever present and filling in the gaps of silence with precision. "Well, I guess you just have to be prepared to die" says death, not achieving her goal as the track ends with the sound of a heart monitor coming back to life and the thumping of a heartbeat as the music winds down to a close. I’m unstoppable, I am immortal, Lying on that bed, Not knowing if I'm dead, Or if I made it through, I saw my body, I died there, More than once, I’m back now, There’s no stopping me now, A cute date, With death, Not today disco lady, If I’m dying, I’m not going, Out without a, Fight like you have seen before, No failing, Not this time, I’m unstoppable, I am immortal, I will watch this world, Burn, I will watch myself, Die.
